Update (03/12/09): You will be completing your Windows 7 installation on a "real" hard drive instead of on a virtual machine. The links below are still relevant - read them!
The links below are related to virtualization and Windows 7, two topics that you will be covering in your new assignment that was posted today. (I know you covered virtualization earlier - you're going to see it again!)
VMware - One of the leaders in the virtualization software industry, providing software and technical resources.
Microsoft's Virtualization Site - Information on Microsoft's virtualization products, as well as technical resources.
Microsoft's Virtual PC 2007 - The software you are using in class.
Windows 7 - The new operating system from Microsoft. You can download the beta through the MSDN AA site.
After you've completed the Windows 7 assignment, come back and post your thoughts as a comment on my blog.

Virtualization can be an extremely helpful tool for developers and administrators. I made use of VPC before our project when I was using nLite to customize Windows XP and Vista. Virtualization software is a life saver to anyone who does a lot of OS changes and testing.
I enjoyed installing Windows 7. Microsoft has a great OS. When I installed Windows 7 and checked to see did I have Internet connection, I notice an Internet 8 (interesting). Exploring and customizing Windows 7 was a very interesting project. I like the features and the virtualization of the OS. So for those who haven't explored virtualization, I recommend that you do because virtualization is a helpful software tool.
Honestly I was not that impressed with Windows 7. It wasn't bad or anything but it really won't any different from Windows Vista.
Windows 7 DOES have a look similiar to Windows Vista. Nevertheless, I feel the new operating system from Microsoft will be a giant success. I really liked Windows 7. The interface seemed very clear, clean, and straight forward. I believe this will be a rock solid OS like XP when all the bugs are worked out. I will be testing it some more in the coming months.
Windows 7 does use a new version of IE. (Internet Explorer 8-The Beta version can be downloaded now from Microsoft's website.)I used Internet Explorer 8 for a few weeks and liked it at first. Then I ran into a bunch of issues as it seems to be very buggy.
The experience I have had so far with virtualization has been very positive. I believe this software can be a very valuable tool to the people that need it. I look forward to learning more about its features in our Windows Server class.
I liked the features that Windows 7 has. It is similar to Windows Vista. Virtualization is an awesome tool. You can use different OS.
If you haven't went virtual you have got to it's amazing.
At first glance windows 7 look like another upgrade. As you get into it the ease of access feature are a must.
