Say Hello to Silverlight!

Silverlight is a new plug-in from Microsoft that works with the majority of today's popular web browsers. It's purpose, according to the Silverlight web site, is to deliver "the next generation of media experiences and rich interactive applications for the Web." You can find more information in the Silverlight Community site as well.

You can see for yourself what Silverlight can do by visiting the online gallery of Silverlight applications. Not only can you see this new technology in action, you can also download some of the applications and modify them for your own use.

One of the many applications that have been developed (and that the source code is available for) is Vertigo's Slide.Show. You can download the source code and a quickstart guide so you can create your own slideshow.

Visit the Silverlight gallery and see what you've got to look forward to in the future. Then, once you've previewed the new technology, come back here and leave a comment about the Silverlight application that you liked the most and why you liked it? Make sure you include a link to the web site in your post so we can find your favorite application easier. And just like last week your comment on my blog will count as part of your grade (50% this time).

Also, if anyone creates a working slideshow (at least 6 images) using the Slide.Show application I mentioned above, I'll give you a "free 100" for one of your blog grades.

I tried to download Sliverlight, I don't know what happened I kept getting an error message. I view a slide show of Jamaica. I've always wanted to visit Jamaica show I looked at the pictures. http.//photos.sulekha.com/albums/Jamaica. What little I explored I like Silverlight. I don't like the fact I downloaded it and can't find it and have all these error messages.

I liked all of silverlight.I have played around in it before and use some of the tools.I like the turning pages one the most.It allows you to look at books you may never get to put your hands on and turn pages like it is really there. http://www.bl.uk/ttp2/hiddentreasures.html.

I like viewing just about all of the silverlight slide shows, but I especially liked the silverlight video for the fantastic four rise of the silver surfer movie. I like the fantastic four. In the near future I may decide to make my own slide show when I get the time. http://silverlight.net/fox/

I viewed some of the applications produced with silverlight, and they were really nice. I also played around a little with the web page designer. I really liked how easy it was to drag a selected object onto the screen, put it where you like it, and even view the source code that was used to create it

This is my first time exploring Silverlights and I would say that it has a lot of techniques. I visited the Silverlights online gallery and watched a man named Stephan T. Lavavej talk about Technical Report I (TR1). Visited http://tinyurl.com/3cejwn to see what I watched. Being able to watch a channel from a computer is unique. I visited Vertigo’s Slide Show. Nothing really interests me, but the pictures. Overall, I enjoyed play with Silverlights and visiting the online gallery.

I played around some on several different sites, but got the most fun from famefor15.com. The most impressed I got was from a video clip showing silverlight used in a mock-up for Netlix instant viewing. I found it at visitmix.com, but you can get it directly at http://download.microsoft.com/download/e/d/d/edd7b135-d2a9-4499-a3ca-a6c8a0ab5716/Netflix_mix.wmv
